Cardiff Airport is close to Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan 12 miles west of Cardiff and 10 miles from junction 33 on the M4. The airport started life in the early 1940s as a wartime satellite aerodrome and training base named RAF Rhoose and now carries 1.2 million passengers a year.
